Job Responsibilities:

• Supervises, coordinates and performs a variety of administrative work such as scheduling of subordinate personnel; maintains records of road construction, maintenance and repair activities; responds to requests for information or services; and performs related administrative, planning and research activities; and prepares statistical and budget information. Prepares reports of expenditures, activities performed and other related required information.
• Prepares performance evaluations; recommends and initiates disciplinary actions up to and including separation; recommends hiring; participates in hiring and promotional testing and interviewing; approves vacations and time off; prepares work schedules and assignments; supervises the activities of assigned personnel; monitors reports and record keeping activities filed by assigned personnel for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to policy and procedure guidelines; instructs personnel in departmental policies, procedures and techniques; and provides and recognizes additional training in the safe operation and servicing of required equipment, tools and materials in assigned area and methods and techniques of road construction, maintenance and repair.
• Determines best course of action in the completion of assignments including setting priorities; estimating number of hours to complete assignments; determining labor required; and determining necessary materials, equipment and supplies.
• Checks progress of assignments, verifying adherence to assignment requirements and determining quality of work performed by assigned personnel.
• Determines proper and efficient usage of materials, equipment, hand and power tools by subordinates in the performance of their assignments.
• Selects and orders required materials and supplies in accordance with established purchasing procedures. Determines and recommends additional equipment and tools requirements for assigned area.
• Prepares complete, accurate and timely reports, records and logs.
• Operates and utilizes various hand and power tools and equipment (light to heavy) appropriate to assigned area.
• Adheres to and enforces safety practices and procedures in work areas and in performance of work assignments.
• Cleans, maintains and services required equipment and tools used during performance of work assignments.
• Inspects and maintains an adequate supply of materials, equipment and tools required to fulfill work assignments.
• Conducts various meetings with assigned personnel, such as, Safety, laying out a new project or advising a change in practice and procedure.
• Performs related work as required.

Job Hiring Requirements:

• Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's/College Degree , Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum of ten(10) or more years successful experience in the performance of advanced journey and/or working supervisor level work involving road construction, maintenance and repair to include operation and servicing of a variety of light - heavy equipment and performance of manual activities. OR an equivalent combination of experience, education and training which provides the desired knowledge, skills and abilities.
